Good Intentions
I do not wish to pave your road to hell
I have seen you fall and not wanting to cry
I have heard you shout
I have felt your pain and wanting to help
I asked what comfort is it you are without
If I cared to ease your troubled mind
The step from angry heart to gentle soul
Would wear away the thickened skin
That protects you from the critics of your role
And perhaps the best and worst that I could do
Would be to turn your anger into tears
And the flood might overwhelm
And drown your courage in too many fears
So if I leave you alone, not well
It’s that I do not wish to pave your road to hell
