One summers day when my youngest daughter was about 4 or 5 we had the paddling pool out in the back garden and her and her sisters were running in and out of it splashing around, laughing and giggling. We hadn’t been able to go away on holiday that year for a number of reasons and I was sitting on the decking thinking what a shame it was that they were missing out. Just then she came up to me, dripping wet and out of breath, from running around, and so excited she could hardly speak. “This is the best day ever” she said.
Sometimes it difficult as an adult to remember when something so simple could be so good but there it was she meant it wholeheartedly , at that moment it was to her, without doubt the best day ever.
